I highly enjoyed this book. There were a couple downsides (more on that later), but the overall story was quite entertaining.First, the concept material is pretty good. American-izing material that is normally found in a more Eastern format makes it easier for new readers to get into the subject. I am not exactly a big anime fan, but found the material easy to follow, and logical progression, most of the time. The characters are pretty well written, and the culture differences are realistically interpreted. There is no overall sensation of people taking advantage of each other, and what I *really* appreciate is how the main characters appear to interact. The right of refusal is a pretty big one in my way of thinking, and the fact that the main character is able to decline a romantic relationship makes the story much more interesting. On the downside, there is quite a lot of 4th wall breaking. It's funny at first, but interrupts the story more and more as time progresses. Using complicated names for fight scene actions gets to be a bit tedious too. I am fully aware of the names of various moves in martial arts, but I am also fully aware that combatants do not take the time to shout a thirty-syllable title before a strike (exaggeration, but it makes my point). For the most part, an entertaining read; lighthearted, and no problems with huge grammar/spelling. That's always a plus.

This is the first official book I got for my new kindle....my old one died on me a few weeks before Christmas. None of that matters i suppose.... Kevin saves an injured fox. A female fox. Not only that but it turns out that the fox is actually a kitsune, the shape-shifting tricksters of Japanese folklore. Liliam is the name of this kitsune and she's gorgeous as to be expected from a female kitsune. This book has the same plot as a romantic anime: boy meets girl, girl has magical powers and is tottally obsessed with boy and sexy hijinks happen. Nothing to write home about. Nothing too radical. It doesn't rewrite rules or clinche. It's just a simple love story........no matter that it's a one-sided love story for Kevin has eyes for Lindsay a girl at his school. Kevin is shy around women like all anime protagonists.I was fully expecting for this to be a manga but was surprised this is a book that happens to have a fairly typical anime plot. It even makes several references to anime like Tenchi Muyo and Neon Genesis Evagelion. There's fourth wall breaks and it's explained that the prescence of a kitsune makes little cracks in the Fourth Wall. I rather like the idea but it's used a tad too much here.I was intrigued by this concept since I was planning on writing a similar story before reading this. I like the idea of someone meeting a mythological creature. I did enjoy reading this

I loved it, I hated it, It was the weirdest book I've read this winter. :PActually I didn't love or hate it. It's a fun book, with a good premise and characters that work even if I believe Brandon has watched far too many harem animes and just called up central casting for his characters here. There is not a lot of depth to the tale or characters, but somehow this story worked for me. I think mostly because while I tend to get sick of harem anime characters quickly, I do like them in small doses and this tale kept the overall dosage below my recommended maximum limit. This isn't a tale for everyone. If you don't like harem anime, overly sexualized characters and a hero who needs to have his butt kicked from LA to NYC, this tale will prove extremely frustrating. But if you can tolerate the stupidity that reigns over all harem anime tales, this will be fun, if very shallow even for that genre

This was an interesting experience to read. I liked it. It was good, had fun moments, and sometimes I forgot I wasn't reading a Light Novel because of all the Japanese/Anime tropes that were thrown about. Not that that's a bad thing, but I did keep expecting for the book to be ripped out of my library due to being slapped with a copyright warning for all the Anime that got name dropped. One of the main problems I had with the story was the lack of anything done with the parents. They do not exist. Even when we are shown a scene where the hear Kevin trying to keep Lilian out of his pants, they just shrug and go to sleep. That is not normal. There should have been more interactions between the parents and the two main characters. Missed opportunity. But, overall, it was a good book. I liked it. The author clearly loves the characters he has created as much as they love each other. That helps the immersion. Definitely earns a solid 4/5 stars.

The first foundational brick in the American Kitsune series. I’ve just started my re-read of the series, with the first book, it serves as a foundational book, introducing our main Character Kevin, to a world he would have thought previously was only fictional. So at this stage, his world is turned upside down, with a beautiful Kitsune, who he thought was a fox was rescued and declares him to be her mate. Looking back on it as a re-read its fun seeing some of the references that will be made clear later on. I know I’d enjoy seeing it as an anime. It’s a light and fun read overall.
