It's decent for its price. It doesn't really shine in any way or form, but it does provide a decent explanation for each topic.My main complain with this workbook is the answer key at the end. It's is TINY! By that I mean McGraw crammed 6 to 8 pages of answers onto each page. I'm not sure if the company was trying to bottleneck on paper, but it was frustrating to squint at the answer key everytime I was grading my brothers work.Perhaps I'm a bit biased due to the answer key complaint, but all in all, it's a typical English workbook. Just one with incredibly small printing in the end that made me want to rip my hair out after correcting a few pages.
This book was great at helping my sixth grader gain a better understanding of English and Grammar! I felt that the book went at the pace my daughter needed it to go! She enjoyed completing the activities which means I will be purchasing more books from this company!
I'm a classroom teacher and I teach 6-8 in a multi-grade classroom. I have some 6th graders very low in grammar and this book is a perfect introduction to basic skills which will help their understanding in the regular curriculum. I'm pleased. I would recommend getting extra practice sheets so students can continue to practice and master the basic concepts.
We homeschool and I needed to make sure I was covering the rules of grammar for my sixth grader, so I was looking for a workbook that was not too complicated or overwhelming for my somewhat hyperactive, inattentive but fairly bright child (age 12). This really fits the bill. Each worksheet page is just the right amount of work and presented in a clear, understandable format. Explanations are well written, worksheets are printed in clean black and white (i.e. without distracting decorative pictures in bright colors). An added bonus is worksheets teaching how to write a letter in proper form near the end of the book. I have looked through a lot of books and I recommend this one for teaching your child grammar painlessly.
The book is too easy for sixth graders unless your students need a lot of help with basic English. However, it is a good book to review many basic grammar topics and students from grades 4 to 6 can benefit from the book.
It doesn't offer several pages of practice on each topic covered. The topics are presented clearly, but not enough examples to help a child struggling with grammar.
Best curriculum I have ever found!!! The price is amazing compared to all other curriculum. The answer key has a duplicate of the page so you can follow along as your child answers the questions, instead of having the child repeat every question being asked. Each page has a very detailed explanation with examples. When the children look forward to their lessons everyday you know you are using a great curriculum. If there was more stars to give, I would.
Great prep for 6th grade. My kid got moved up to 7th grade work after we studied this book over the summer
