This outstanding book should be on every botanical taxonomist's bookshelf. It is a dictionary of Latin terms related to plants, a review of Latin grammar, and an instruction manual for writing a Latin diagnosis for a new plant species. It assumes at least some background familiarity with Latin as well as with botanical terminology. It is thus not a book for a casual reader. I found it engrossing.
A very comprehensive, almost encyclopaedic book, a milestone in its topic. However, the book came with the cover bumped.
Good book for learning more about your garden plants. Or for the professional gardener.
An excellent book for any plant lover who wonders what those Latin names mean, as well as a thorough review of the Latin I studied for 4 years in high school.
This is a great book, but much understanding of the subject is needed before hand for a person to really get much out of it. It is a great purchase for serious horticulturists, but if you are just a weekend gardener this is not the book for you. If you specialize in a certain Genera and more knowledge of specie name basis is what you want this is a good buy.
